HALL, John A. - Died, March 23, 1912 at Fairland, Okla., at the home of his son, Wix P. Hall, John A. Hall, age fifty-five years, eight months and eleven days. Deceased was born on Pea Ridge, Ark., July 10th, 1857. From childhood to early manhood this was his home. In the home of his pious and devoted parents and in the Sabbath schools and churches of this devotedly religious community he received his first religious instruction. Most of his literary attainment he received through Rev. J.R. Roberts, who conducted and maintained on Pea Ridge, for more than seventeen years, one of the best literary institutions in Benton county. When about twenty-one years of age he was married to Miss Lillie Mayfield. To them were born six children, four of whom are living near Fairland, Okla. His wife and two daughters having gone before. At the age of twenty-three during a meeting held by the Friends {Quakers} near Siloam Springs, he professed faith in Christ as his personal Savior. This spiritual and devoted christian communion he ever held in the highest esteem and in the fullest christian confidence. Under a malignant attack of pneumonia he lived only three days and passed submissively into the life beyond. A dear, devoted mother in the seventy-eighth year of her age, two younger brothers and two younger sisters, together with a host of relatives, survive him. Not being able, on account of the almost impassable condition of the roads and the inclement state of the weather, to comply with a request to conduct the funeral service at Buttram's Chapel, Bro. Y.A. Gilmore kindly and satisfactorily conducted the service. The remains were laid to rest in the Chapel Cemetery by the loved ones waiting the summons of Him, who is the "resurrection and the life." May the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, comfort the bereaved and sorrowing hearts. P. Carnahan.
