John Floyd
"Uncle" John Floyd died at his home here on January 1, 1933 of bronchial pneumonia. He was a civil war veteran and was born in Niagara Falls, N. Y. ninety-six years ago the twelfth of last June. After receiving his discharge at Pittsburgh. Pa., at the close of the war he returned home for two weeks visit. He then came south and never did return. He was never married and lived a very quiet life all alone. He enjoyed good health. He subscribed for many papers and magazines, which he read without the aid of glasses. He was sick only a few days. Burial was made in the Calico Rock cemetery Monday afternoon, funeral services being conducted by Rev. J. T. Byrd, pastor of the M. E. Church.
