James Demelee Floyd was born to Lindsey L. Floyd and Anna (Morgan) Floyd on June 26, 1930 at Bandmill, AR. He passed away on November 10, 2013 in Brownsburg, IN, at the age of 83.
On July 7, 1951 he married V. Roberta Helm at Oxford, AR, and to this union five children were born.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta Floyd, of Brownsburg, IN. Two daughters: Susan Lovelace (Johnny) of Mountain Home, AR, Sara Eldredge (Michael) of Purcellville, VA, two sons: Timothy Floyd (Sherry), and Stephen Floyd (Shannon), all of Brownsburg, IN, one daughter-in-law, Cindi Floyd of Mountain Home, AR. Fourteen grandchildren: Nathan Kizer (Melia) of Burnsville, NC, Aaron Kizer (Jessica) of Raymore, MO, Jeremiah Floyd of Brownsburg, IN, Leah Floyd of Little Rock, AR, Meredith Floyd of Las Vegas, NV, Anna Floyd of Mountain Home, AR, Mitchell Floyd, Madeline Floyd, and Katherine Floyd of Brownsburg, IN, Savanah Eldredge of Purcellville, VA, John Thomas Lovelace of Bella Vista, AR, Alison Lovelace of Bakersfield, Mo, Colby Eldredge of Dallas, TX, Ashley Eldredge of Corpus Christi, TX., and seven great grandchildren. Four sisters: Margie Eaton of Brownsburg, IN, Anna Floyd of Melbourne, AR, Erma Nelson (John) of Bandmill, AR, Sharon Guffin (Tom) of Collierville, TN, and one brother, Wayne Floyd (Colleen) of Joplin, MO.
He lived in Brownsburg, Indiana for 43 years and retired from Citizens Gas Company in Indianapolis. He enjoyed the building trades, owning Floyd Construction, and built several homes during his lifetime. After retiring in 1994, he returned to Mountain Home, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, David Floyd, seven sisters: Cassie, Lenora, Wil1ie, Neva, Ada, Reba, and Marie and three brothers: Lester, DT and Bennie.
Visitation will be at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Mountain Home, AR, from 4:00 PM To 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 14th.
Funeral will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 15th at the Brockwell Tabernacle in Brockwell, AR with a viewing from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, Arkansas.
