Funeral services for Elijah Elmer Beavers, 77, of Buford, who died Friday, were held Monday at the Fairview Church, with the Rev. Guy Hopper officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery, with the Roller Funeral Home in Charge of Arrangements.
Mr. Beavers, a pioneer resident of Baxter County, was born here on May 13, 1876, and spent his entire life in this county. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Masonic rites were held at the graveside.
Survivors include two sons, John Beavers of Cushman, OK, and Ed Beavers of Buffalo; five daughters, Mrs. Dona Yocham of Advance, Mrs. Edna Ford of Brice, TX, Mrs. Florence Lewis of Amherst, TX, Mrs. Leona Wells of Burbank, CA and Mrs. Nazzie Finley of Mt. Home; two brothers, Jack Beavers of Ringwood, OK and Frank Beavers of Benicia, OK; a sister Mrs. Cora Pendergrass of Wetonga, OK and 12 grandchildren.

(His obituary gives a birth date of May 13, 1876, instead of the May 30, 1875, that is inscribed on the gravestone. His obituary also lists his name as Elijah Elmer; however, other documents have the first name as Elisha with various spellings. Since he was know as "Lish" it is almost a certainty that his name was Elisha.)
