The Baxter Bulletin, Mountain Home, Arkansas, October 4, 1940:
Buffalo
Monday, September 23rd, Samuel D. Beavers, (Uncle Sam as Buffalonians call him), Buffalo's loved and venerable blacksmith, ferryman and publis servant, suffered a stoke of paralysis in his right side and has been confined to his bed since that time. He appears to be fully conscious, but unable to speak or to use his right limbs. Uncle Sam has a great host of friends and relatives who have been doing everything possible for his comfort, and are hoping and praying that he will soon be restored to his usual health.
