KING, Deen - Miss Deen King, one of the young ladies struck by lightning September 19th at Watkin's evaporator north of Rogers, died Saturday evening as a result of her injuries, which proved more serious than at first anticipated. Miss King was badly burned on the face, breast and arms. The burns were very deep and gangrene, which resulted, reached one of the blood vessels and spread the poison throughout her system. The relapse came Friday and death soon ended her sufferings. Miss King died at the home of Wood Stroud where she had been ever since the sad accident. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Tuck's Chapel and were conducted by Elder Sherry of the Church of Christ of which the deceased was a member. Miss King was the daughter of J.W. King, residing just north of town, and was twenty-one years old on the eighth of last July. She was born near Pea Ridge and had lived all her life in Benton county, near Avoca, Tuck's Chapel and for the past three years north of Rogers. She was exceedingly popular among the young people of her neighborhood and her untimely death is greatly deplored by everyone. The Democrat joins with them in extending sympathy to the family.
