John Monroe Dumas, 87, of 646 Mt. Holly St., died Saturday at 9:30 p.m. in a Little Rock hospital. Mr. Dumas was a retired farmer and business man and a lifelong resident of El Dorado. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Blanche Roberts Dumas of El Dorado; three daughters, Mrs. Morene Smith of El Dorado, Mrs. Bedford Floyd of Gulfport, Miss., and Mrs. Tom Howard of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Joe Henry Dumas of El Dorado; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Don Harbuck officiating. Burial in Arlington Cemetery will follow under the direction of Pratt Funeral Home. The body will remain at Pratt's until one hour before the service. The following nephews of Mr. Dumas will be active pallbearers: Ellis Dumas, Lucian Dumas, Herbert Dumas, Elmer Dumas, Joe Dumas, Dick Dumas, Clifford Dumas and Victor Dumas. Members of the Rialto Theater Men's Bible Class of the First Baptist Church and of the Senior Citizens Club will be honorary pallbearers. (The El Dorado Times - January 18, 1965)
