James Carthel Burkett, 84, of Greenbrier, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2023. He was born October 31, 1938, in Greenbrier to the late James Clarence and Ethel May Burkett. James graduated from Greenbrier High School. He retired after 40 years at Arkansas Best Freight as a truck driver. James was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. Everyone who knew James, knew he was the master of all trades; he was always working on something and could do it all. James enjoyed doing leatherwork and being a member of SSAS shooting club his alias was Arkansas Traveler. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife of 37 years, Shelby Jean Burkett, brothers, Jerry and John Burkett, and grandson, Justin Palazzo.
James is survived by his wife of 30 years, Patsy Burkett, children, Lesa (Shayne) Finch, Charlotte (Mark) Madding, James Clayton (Heather) Burkett, Julie (Len) Vanin, Stephanie (Bill) Brown, fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, sister, Jimmie Lee Burkett, and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00PM Tuesday, August 1st, 2023, at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier. Funeral Service will be at 10:00AM Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at Roller McNutt Funeral Home with Burial following at Thorn Cemetery in Greenbrier, AR.
