When David Young Burkett was born on November 11, 1858, in Henderson, Tennessee, his father, Augustus, was 23 and his mother, Martha, was 20. He married Texas Cornelia Canfield on September 18, 1889, in Faulkner, Arkansas. They had nine children in 18 years. He died on July 6, 1937, in Faulkner, Arkansas, at the age of 78, and was buried in Greenbrier, Arkansas.
