Son of David Young Burkett and Texas Cornelia Canfield.
When Thurman J Burkett was born on July 9, 1909, in Arkansas, his father, David, was 50 and his mother, Texas, was 37. He married Bessie McGinty on September 12, 1931, in Faulkner, Arkansas. They had four children during their marriage. He died on March 17, 1973, in Conway, Arkansas, at the age of 63, and was buried in Greenbrier, Arkansas.
