FAYETTEVILLE — Russell Arnold Wood, age 91, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, at Butterfield Trail Village, where he was a resident for 12 years. Arnold was born Oct 5, 1923, in the Harmon community, Springdale, Ark. He was the son of Oscar Wood and Cleo (Greenlee) Wood.

Arnold was in business for many years in Springdale, Ark., where he owned Arnold Wood's Radio and TV.

After retiring, he spent many hours playing golf at Paradise Country Club. He hit eight hole-in-ones during this time. He also enjoyed repairing golf clubs and fishing.

While living in Springdale, he was a member of Elmdale Baptist Church. After moving to Butterfield, he became a member of First Baptist Church in Fayetteville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen Couch Wood, to whom he was married for 68 years; and two brothers, Milton Wood and Marion Wood.

He is survived by two sons, Russell Wood and his wife, Mary Ann, of Springdale, and Windell Wood and his wife, Bonnie, of Springdale; one daughter, Barbara Chaffin and her husband, Mike, of Longview, Texas; a sister, Mollie Larkin of Waconia, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Brian Chaffin, Susan Chaffin, Melissa Hutchens, Michael Hutchens and his wife, Sophia, Ben Wood and his wife, Kimberly, Morgan House and her husband, Evan, and Kim Lockenour and her husband, Jeff; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Mike Pasley officiating at Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Elm Springs Cemetery.

There is no scheduled visitation.

FAYETTEVILLE — Helen Wood, age 86, of Fayetteville, passed away on March 12, 2012. She was born in Health, Ark., (Brannon Mountain Community), the daughter of Charlie and Rosa Brannon Couch.

She was a member of the Elmdale Baptist Church in Springdale for many years. She was a homemaker and she enjoyed sewing, quilting, bowling and playing golf.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Warren and Wayne Couch; and one sister, Hester Couch Schuster.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Russell Arnold Wood, of the home; two sons, Russell Wood and his wife, Mary Ann, and Windell Wood and his wife, Bonnie; one daughter, Barbara Chaffin and her husband, Mike; two sisters, Bernice Durning and Charlene Barron; her grandchildren, Brian Chaffin, Susan Chaffin, Ben Wood, Morgan Wood, Kim Lockenaur, Michael Hutchens and Melissa Hutchens; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 16, at the Elm Springs Cemetery, with Dr. Andy Hall officiating, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Springdale. There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to North Hills Life Care and Rehab in Fayetteville, who lovingly provided care for her for 10 years.
