It is located in the S ½ of the SE ¼ of Sec 9, T9N, R5W on land owned by Charles Lawrence of Judsonia, a great-grandson of James Boyce. Following are Laveda Steed’s directions on how to reach the cemetery: Take Highway 87 west of Bradford, turn left at the top of the hill onto Velvet Ridge Road for approximately 7.0 miles, turn left on Troy Cox Road for approximately one-half mile, then left on Honey Holler Road for approximately 1.5 miles, then left on Fire Tower Road for approximately 2.0 miles to Norman Hicks’ property in SectionBoyce Cemetery Map 16. The cemetery is approximately a half-mile northwest of the Hicks home in the timber.
According to Laveda Steed, the land was homesteaded by James Boyce who came to Arkansas from West Virginia in 1886. The cemetery contains gravesites of family members and relatives. All headstones were in good shape in 2001 except the stone for James Boyce, which had been broken into three pieces. There are numerous gravesites marked only with rocks.
The cemetery was cleaned off on September 3, 2001, by Harold Boyce, Tom Boyce and Charles Lawrence, grandsons and great-grandson of James Boyce.
Laveda Steed provided this map indicating burial sites. The numbers in parenthesis in the list below correspond to the numbers in the map.
