Earl Eugene Grimes
Earl E. Grimes, 76, of Rogers died Thursday, Jan 5, 2006, at St Mary's Hospital in Rogers. He was born Oct. 29, 1929, in Wayne County, Iowa, the son of Parker and Pauline Grimes.
He attended business college in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Wisconsin. He was a veteran of the Korean War, and served with the U.S. Army.
He retired as the district manager from Great Lakes Gas Transmission Co., in Ashland, Wis. in 1992, after 31 years of service to the company.
He was an active member of Central United Methodist Church in Rogers, where he served on several committees and was an usher. He volunteered with the Salvation Army and enjoyed his charity work. He also enjoyed working in his yard, and many other outdoor activities.
He and his wife Lavona, moved to Northwest Arkansas in 1992 after retiring from Ashland, Wis. He loved spending quality time with his grandchildren and was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lavona Grimes, to whom he was married on Sept. 3, 1950, in Corydon, Iowa; two sons, Reed Grimes and his wife Patti of Houston, Todd Grimes and his wife Susan of Rogers; one daughter, Teri Brown and her husband Brian of Rogers; one brother, Charles Grimes of Des Moines, Iowa; one sister-in-Law, Geraldine Frame of Corydon; seven grandchildren, Collin Grimes, Chad Grimes, and Cristin Grimes, all of Houston, Taylor Grimes, Cameron Grimes and Bailey Grimes, ail of Rogers, and Kayla Brown of Rogers.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7 at Central United Methodist Church in Rogers with the Rev. Biff Averitt and the Rev. Jaimie Alexander officiating. Interment will follow in Rogers Cemetery.
