FUNERAL OF WM F. GRIMES WAS HELD HERE SUNDAY
Funeral services for William F. Grimes, aged 70, for 30 year chief engineer of the Bentonville light and water plants, who died at this home east of Bentonville at 11:30 o’clock Friday morning April 17th, 1936, were held at 2:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the home of his son, Walter Grimes, here in town, conducted by the Rev. Edwin E. Mace, pastor of the Bentonville Presbyterian Church. Funeral music was by a trio composed of Mrs. E.E. Mace, Miss Pauline Wheat, and Miss Vernal Dodson, with Miss Clarice Dodson accompanist.
The pallbearers were Ed Stroud, E. H. Breedlove, Tom Landers, Jim Jefferson, Oscar Berry, and Jim Wilson. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Callison-McKinney Funeral Home of Bentonville, and burial was in the Bentonville cemetery.
Mr. Grimes was born near Bentonville, Sept. 2nd, 1865, He was a son of the late Mack and Mary Wardlow Grimes, and had spent his entire life in this county.
For more than 30 years he was an employee of the City of Bentonville and during that time was engineer of the city water plant, while it was still operated regularly at the source of the city water supply east of town and later was engineer here for the light and power plant and the water plant, which for many years has received its pumping power over high-power transmission lines from the central plant here in town.
Beside his wife, Mrs. Emma Lou Grimes, who also is a member of a pioneer Benton County family and a sister of Miss Beulah Morris of Bentonville, Mr. Grimes is srivived by three sons, and one daughter. They are Walter Grimes, chief engineer for the past several years at the Bentonville light and power plant; Charles Grimes, who also is employed at the city plant, and Hunter Grimes of Bentonville; and Mrs. Nellie Grimes Alfrey of Bentonville. Mr. Grimes also is survived by nine grandchildren, all of Bentonville.
