LEE, Margaret Elizabeth WOODS - Margaret Elizabeth Woods, daughter of Dysart and Sarah Holmes Woods, was born in Carroll County, Tenn. Jan. 24, 1832. When only six years of age she came with her parents to Bentonville, Ark. where has been her home ever since except for a short time when she and her husband lived for a short time following their marriage at what was then known as Lee Town on Pea Ridge but which has long since ceased to exist. In 1856 she was married to J.F. Lee, a member of one of the pioneer families of the county and with whom she happily lived until his death in 1888. To this union were born seven children, three of whom survive her. They are John Lee, who for several years has been the efficient manager of the County Home; Robt. L. Lee of the Robt. L. Lee Realty Co. of Bentonville and Miss Sallie Lee, also of this city, the two latter, together with their mother, having constituted the Lee home here for several years, their home on North Main St. having been for years a favorite gathering place for the friends of the family and none could enter and leave without feeling the effects of the cheerful and happy spirit of Aunt Betty, as she was commonly called. While she had been compelled to keep her room for several years on account of injuries received from a fall, her life was always radiant with joy and her smile and happy disposition did much to chase away the gloom from many a life after a visit with her. Her entire life had been lived in the Christian spirit and she had been for a number of years a faithful and consistent member of the Presbyterian church. On Wednesday afternoon of April 14, 1920, as the shadows of evening were lengthening, she closed her eyes to all things of the earth and quietly fell asleep to awake in the dawn of eternal day. Besides the children already named she leaves one grand-daughter, Mrs. Bessie Lee Murphy, and two grandsons, John Lee and Jack Murphy and one brother, Mr. D.H. Woods of this city. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church on Friday, April 16, at 10 a.m. conducted by Rev. H.W. Steen, assisted by Rev. G. Lyle Smith, pastor of the Christian church, and attended by a large number of sorrowing and sympathizing friends, after which the body was laid to rest in the family lot at the Odd Fellows cemetery.
