ROSEBURG, Ore. - Ruby Faye Thomas moved on to be with Jesus her Savior on Nov. 13, 2011, from a stroke in Roseburg, Ore. Ruby was born in Eureka Springs, Ark., on July 11, 1921, to Powell Cornelius David and Mary Gaylor David. She was the eighth of nine children.
Ruby married John Hiram Thomas on Sept. 24. 1939, in Mundell, Ark. They were blessed with five children then moved to Oregon in 1956. She has been a homemaker her entire adult life and an award winning quilter. Her husband, John, has been with Jesus since Dec. 11, 1997, leaving her a widow. Ruby was blessed by living in her own home, being cared for by family until her death at 90 years of age.
Ruby is survived by her five children and their spouses, Ernest Thomas and wife Barbara of Glide, Ore., Irma Jennings and her husband, Orville, of Glide, Ore., Fern Hawley of Greenfield, Mo., Sharon Smith and husband Lyle of Grants Pass, Ore., Nancy Story and husband Charles of Roseburg, Ore.; her special friend, Melvin Berchfield of Glide, Ore.; and 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 33 great-great-
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Nov. 16, 2011, at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses in Roseburg, Ore.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at Ruddick Cemetery in Garfield, Ark.
