Little Fern Russell Passes
Last Friday night, April 23, the Death Angel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs E. W. Russell, of Creswell and claimed their darling little daughter, Fern. She had been sick of flu and pneumonia for about a week, all of which time she was dangerously ill.
All during her illness she bore her pain with bravery and as her mind wandered she called her play mates and school mates. Saturday morning about 2:30 o'clock, she called her father to her bed and sang to him "Will You Meet Me at the Judgment" and then fell asleep.
Fern was ten years old and in the fifth grade. She was a very sweet little girl. She always came to school with a smile and was always willing to try any task that was given her. She especially liked arithmetic and penmanship. OH! how we will miss her when school starts, again.
Funeral services were held at the home Sunday morning at nine o'clock by Rev. J. R. Jennings. She was lain to rest in the Palestine Cemetery.
She is survived by a father, mother, two sisters, four brothers, and a host of other relatives and friends. --- Her Teacher.
