Oakley Ervin Lawson

SEDGWICK — Funeral services for Ervin Lawson, 88, of Sedgwick, who died Sunday, Feb. 10, at St. Bernard's Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge. Rick Hart will officiate, and burial will follow at Old Military Cemetery.

Born in Richwood, he had lived in the Sedgwick area for most of his life. He was a retired farmer and attended Cache River Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include his wife, Alta Lawson of the home; a daughter, Ellen Tilley of Jonesboro; five sons, Elanzo Lawson and Gene Lawson, both of Sedgwick, Bill Lawson of Jonesboro, Ronnie Lawson of Fontaine and Spurgin Lawson of Guion; four sisters, Vera Garrison of Oklahoma, Virginia Greenslate of Southaven, Miss., Peggy Jones of Memphis and Lavonda Weist of Brookland; two brothers, J.C. Lawson of Camden, Tenn., and Richard Lawson of Walnut Ridge; 18 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two children, two sisters and four brothers.

Active pallbearers will include Allen Lawson, Michael Lawson, Terry Lawson, Billy Calderon, Mitchell Worlow and Jeff Worlow.

Honorary pallbearers will include Leon Lawson, A.J. Farmer, Charles Farmer, W.G. Douglas, Earl McQuay and Glen Worlow.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Walnut Ridge-Alta Lou Lawson, 91 passed away Saturday at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center. She was born December 17, 1920 in the Little Brown Community to Frank and Alma Lou Oden McQuay. She was a lifetime resident of Lawrence County and a homemaker. She was a member of the Cache River Pentecostal Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oakley Ervin Lawson; one daughter, Louis Angeline; two sons, Oakley and Spurgin Lawson; four sisters, Zora Farmer, Roma Bagwell, Edith Lawson and Nola Cloyd; one brother, Earl McQuay and one granddaughter, Vanessa Lawson.

She is survived by sons, Elanzo Lawson of Sedgwick, Bill Lawson of the Greensboro Community, Gene Lawson of Sedgwick and Ronnie Lawson of Fontaine, daughter, Ellen Tilley of Nettleton; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m.,Wednesday at House Gregg Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge. Burial will follow in Old Military Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
