Born September 9, 1915, Flat Rock, Izard County, Arkansas.
Died April 11, 1997, Calico Rock, Izard County, Arkansas.
Son of Basil Jurden Jones & Josephine Lane Jones.
Married (1) Florence May Underwood, November 24, 1934, Granite, Greer County, Oklahoma.
Married (2) Mrs. Evelyn Claiborne, February 12, 1987, Melbourne, Izard County, Arkansas.
White River Current, Calico Rock, Arkansas, April 17, 1997:
Floyd Burl Jones, son of the late Basil Jurden and Josephine Lane Jones was born September 9, 1915 in Flat Rock. He died April 11, 1997 at the Medical Center of Calico Rock. He was 81.
Mr. Jones was a brick mason by trade and of the Baptist faith. He was united in marriage to Florence Underwood November 24, 1934 in Granite, Oklahoma. To this union five sons were born. They lived and raised their family in Granite, moving back to Arkansas in 1981. Mrs. Jones passed away in December, 1986. Mr. Jones was united in marriage to Evelyn Claiborne February 12, 1987 in Melbourne.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Ronald Jones and his wife, Deloris of Simi Valley, California and Raymond Jones of Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchild, two daughters-in-law, Jackie Jones and Kay Jones; three step-children, Warren, Karen, and Donald and seven step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and three sons, Bobby, Floyd Jr., and Jimmy Lee; two sisters and 11 brothers.
Funeral services were held April 13, 1997 at the United Methodist Church in Calico Rock with Eldon Hellums and Hazel Clark officiating.
Pallbearers were Stephen Jones, Chris Jones, Ronald Jones, Tony Jones, Charles Jones and Larry Ray. Honorary pallbearers were James Porterfield, Thomas Hellums and Loyd Byers.
Interment was at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Brockwell under the direction of the Eddie Howard Funeral Home in Melbourne.
