Lloyd W. Jones, 83, died Wednesday, Aug. 2 at his home in Houseshoe Bend, Ark.
He was born Dec. 24, 1916 in Calico Rock, Ark. to George Robert and Minnie Ida Webb Jones.
He married Marvelle Bodfield in Los Angeles, CA March 21, 1942 and during WWII, he served in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Private First Class.
He left a position as supervisor of a plastic factory in Los Angeles to move to the Calico, Rock area to farm.
Later he went to work for General Motors in Kansas City, MO. He retired after 25 years of employment.
An avid golfer, he was a member of the Turkey Mountain Golf Association in Houseshoe Bend.
Preceding him in death are his parents; two brothers, Rex Jones and Clarence Jones; three sisters, Eloise Clinton, Joyce Stanley and Flossie Raney; and a son in law, Edward Brady.
Survivors include his wife, Marvelle of the home; five daughters, Karol Fountain and her husband, E.W. of Kansas City, MO, Karen Toadvine and her husband, Jim of Elkhart, KS, Donna Lappin and her husband, Joseph of Jacksonville, FL, Billie Houser and her husband, Bob of Memphis, Tenn. And Loy Orwig and her husband, Earl of Memphis Tenn.; two sisters, Georgia Presley of Little Rock, Ark. And Pauline Moser of Roll, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, LeeAnn Luna, Eric Fountain, Scott Brady, Annette White, Joseph Lappin Jr., Patricia Lappin, Bobbie Houser and Grahm Orwig; and five great grandchildren, Ashleigh Luna, Nick Luna, Tammy Lappin, Kristin White and Natalie Ramirez.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 5 at 10 a.m. at the Calico Rock Funeral Chapel in Calico Rock, Ark. With Ken Overton officiating.
