Nova Hames of Violet Hill died Friday, November 6 at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem at the age of 78. She was born September 18, 1914 in Crossroads the daughter of the late Marshall Ed Clark and Alice Whitfield Clark.
Nova was married to William D. Hames in April of 1932 in Violet Hill and to this union three children were born. She was retired from N.A.D.C. as a home health aide. Nova was a member and a trustee of the Forrest Chapel United Methodist Church in Violet Hill.
Nova leaves to mourn her passing one daughter, Sandra Miller of Sage; two sons, Leyon Hames of Searcy and Bill Hames of Spokane, Ws.; one sister, Essie Yancey of Wenatchee, Wa.; one brother, Marshall Clark of Wenatchee, Wa.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, grandparents, parents and four sisters.
Services were held Sunday, November 8 at 2 p.m. in the Forrest Chapel United Methodist Church in Violet Hill with Carter Tucker, Loye Vern Mason and Danny Ingram officiating.
Pallbearers were T.D. Sublett, Eddie Cooper, Glen Billingsley, Randy Eligh, Bobby McCollum and Ace Garner.
Burial was in the Forrest Chapel Cemetery in Violet Hill under the direction of the Howard Funeral Home in Melbourne.
