Richard Leyon “Ricky” Hames of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, formerly of Melbourne, son of Leyon Hames and the late Anita Carey, was born December 17, 1`962 at Leoti, Kansas. He died July 7, 1999. He was 36.
Survivors include one son, Leyon Hames of DeQueen; three daughters, Chastlty Hames, Shantae Hames and Julia Hames all of DeQueen; his father and step-mother, Leyon and Jean Hames of Searcy; his step-father Bill Carey of Leoti, Kansas; two brothers, Bill Hames of Searcy and Michael Carey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four sisters, Jerry Bangerter of Leoti, Kansas; Terri Eligh of Searcy; Brandy West of Letona and Carmon Carey of California. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anita Carey; and his grandparents, Vernon and Alice Downs and Bill and Nova Hames.
Funeral services were held July 12, 1999 at Forest Chapel Church in Violet Hill with Brother Loye Vern Mason officiating. Pallbearers were Joe Mitchell, Steve Eldridge, Pat Miller, Bill Hames, Greg West and Randy High.
Interment was at Forest Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Home of Melbourne.
