Georgia Lee Carter, 70, of Crossett died Wednesday, December 29, 1999, at the Ashley County Medical Center. Born May 26, 1929, to Robert Rastus and Cora Elizabeth Watt Johnson in Ashley County, she was a homemaker and a member of the West Crossett Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, William J. Carter of Crossett; a son, William Earl Carter of Crossett; two daughters, Katie Flowers of Montgomery, AL, and Sherri Lee of Crossett; four brothers, Wilton Johnson of San Antonio, TX, Scott Johnson of Crossett, Sonny Johnson of Hamburg and Billy Johnson of Crossett; five sisters, Verdell Moore of Monroe, LA, Lula Jean Ballard, Tina Burt, Norma Hamm and Sally Tomlin, all of Crossett; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday, December 31, in the West Crossett Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. Thad Douglass and John Marlar officiating. Pallbearers were Joey Rogers, Tracy Carter, Glenn Michael Carter, Tim Ballard, Glenn Moore, Bruce Moore and Ron Tucker. Honorary pallbearers were her remaining nephews. Burial followed services at the Carlock Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
