Olen O. Carter, 82, of Sheridan, formerly of Monticello, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Sheridan Health and Rehab in Sheridan. He was born February 9, 1930 in Hamburg, AR.
He was retired from Burlington Industries after twenty-one and a half years, and was a member of Second Baptist Church in Monticello. He was the son of the late Wyatt Taylor Carter and Zelma Mamie Wallace Carter, and was preceded in death by three brothers,Willie Dave Carter, Wyatt Carter Jr. and Johnny Ray Carter; three sisters, Mary Louise Phillips, Evelyn Dodd and Linda Fay Carter, and one great–great granddaughter, Stormy Barber.
Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Mary Bernice Hall Carter of Sheridan; one son; Randell Carter of Sheridan; six daughters; Linda Shafer and husband Richard of Jonesboro AR; Charlotte Fisher and husband Pat, Mary Pezzullo and husband Anthony, both of Monticello; Cathy Owens and husband Dean of Pine Bluff; Audrey McKenzie of North Little Rock; and Brenda Watson and husband David of Sheridan. Four brothers; Treswell Carter of Hamburg; Norwood Carter of Lewisburg, TN; Billy Carter of Houston, TX and Robert Carter of Kirbyville, TX; four sisters; Helen Moore of Texarkana, TX, Ethlyn Wooten of Huntsville, AL; Elizabeth Tillerson of Celina, TX; Jeanette Collins of Arcadia, LA; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
