William Joseph Carter, age 78, of Crossett, died Saturday, November 10, 2007 at Ashley County Medical Center. He was born on December 25, 1928 to his parents, John Hunter and Annie Oree Maxwell Carter in Ashley County. Mr. Carter was a member of West Crossett Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Georgie Lee Johnson Carter, a sister, Earlene Carter and a great-granddaughter, Makayla Curl. Survivors include one son, Earl Carter of Crossett; two daughters, Sherri Lee of Crossett and Katie Flowers of Wetumpka, AL; two brothers, Lester Carter of Heber Springs, AR, Johnny Faye Carter of Crossett, AR; three sisters, Magdalene Stephenson of Crossett, Irene Johnson of Monroe, LA and Faylene Tucker of Crossett, AR; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2007 at West Crossett Missionary Baptist Church with Reverends Thad Douglass and Clayton Hales officiating. Interment will follow at Carlock Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, AR.
