Clinton W. Owens, 83, a former resident of El Dorado, died in a Texarkana nursing home late Monday night following a lengthy illness. Born Sept. 10, 1884 in Cairo, Ill., he was a former city plumbing inspector in El Dorado and a former officer of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 706. He was a member of the First Nazarene Church of El Dorado. Survivors include three sons, C. A. Owens, Omaha, Neb. and C. W. Owens, Jr., Shreveport; five daughters, Mrs. A. J. Hild, Miami, Fla., Mrs. Percy Jackson, Minden, La., Mrs. John Nelson, Port Lavaca, Tex., Mrs. C. F. Bechtold, Texarkana and Mrs. Betty Rosegrant, El Dorado; 27 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Rumph Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Turner, Rev. Ray Smith, and Rev. A. D. Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in the Smyrna Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Grandsons will act as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Local 706 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union. (El Dorado Times - May 7, 1968)
