Mrs. Mary Etta Owens, 74, of Junction City Route Two, died in a local hospital Thursday at 6:30 a.m. after a brief illness. Mrs. Owens was born in Union County Aug. 4, 1890, the daughter of James and Sarah Peace Ledbetter. She was a lifelong resident of the county and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, J. W. Owens; six sons, Vernon Owens of El Dorado and Ray Owens, Ferrell Owens, Cecil Owens, Billy Owens and Omar Owens, all of Junction City; five daughters, Mrs. Loy Mason of El Dorado, Miss Fay Owens and Mrs. Huey Hubbard, both of Junction City, Mrs. G. E. Rogers of Stewart, Kan., and Mrs. D. G. Bishop of Magnolia; one brother, Oliver Ledbetter of California; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Waller of Whittier, Calif.; 27 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be announced by Rumph Mortuary. (The El Dorado Times - April 29, 1965)
