Judy Hill Owens, age 73 of Junction City went home to meet her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 7, 2014 at UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock after suffering a stroke following successful cancer surgery. Judy was born on June 1, 1940 in Bismark, AR to Marie Cagle Hill and the late Dennis Barlow Hill, Jr. Judy was an accounting clerk, serving 40 plus years with Lion Oil Company under all its different parent companies before her retirement. She was a longtime member of Parkers Chapel First Baptist Church, where she faithfully served in many capacities. Judy taught the senior adults Sunday school class. She also worked with the Wednesday night Awana and Team Kids programs. She served on the benevolence committee, providing many meals to families who had lost a loved one. She worked part time in the church office helping prepare the church bulletins and assisting with financial work and bookkeeping. Judy was an animal lover and especially loved her dogs. She was also known to feed local stray dogs. Judy loved watching her grandchildren play sports and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend to many. To know Judy was to love her.
Judy was preceded in death by her grandparents and by her father, Dennis B. Hill, Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory include; her husband of 31 years, Don Owens of Junction City; three daughters, Mikki Patterson and husband, Charles, of El Dorado, Sherri Wheelus and husband, Glen, of St. Louis, MO and Kristi Burton and husband, Wayne, of Benton, AR; one son, Lance Owens and wife, Jerri, of El Dorado; eleven grandchildren, Travis Patterson and wife, Jessica, of Sheridan, AR, Chase Patterson and wife, Heather, of Magnolia, Lana Wheelus and Jordan Wheelus both of St. Louis, Brianna Gross of El Dorado, Logan Owens and wife, Juliann, of Magnolia, Ty Owens of El Dorado, Austen Burton of Blue Mountain, MS, Clay Hanna, Stephen Hanna, and Ashton Hanna all of El Dorado; four great-grandchildren, Chloe Patterson, Sydney Patterson, Vegas Patterson, and Lizzie Owens; her mother, Marie Hill of El Dorado; two brothers, Joe Hill and wife, Wanda, of El Paso, TX, Rick Hill of Tampa, FL; two sisters, Wanda White and husband, Chuck, of Mission Viejo, CA, Voniece French and husband, James, of El Dorado also numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be from 2-5 pm on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Parkers Chapel First Baptist Church.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am on Monday at the church, with Bro. Larry Hudson and Bro. Denny Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.
Memorials may be made to Parkers Chapel First Baptist Church in Memory of Judy Owens.
