Miss Anna Elizabeth Cowan, only daughter of W.H. Cowan and wife, died Monday forenoon at the home of her parents in the northwest part of town. Death was the result of an attack of typhoid fever and she was sick fourteen weeks. She had been very low for the week preceding and death was not unexpected but she had made such a patient and hopeful fight for so long that the family and friends had never lost faith in her recovery. Funeral services were held at the residence Tuesday noon at 12:30 and were conducted by Rev. Jefferson Sherman of the Central Methodist Church, South. Interment was made at Bentonville that afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Miss Cowan was fifteen years, seven months and sixteen days old and was born at Bentonville. More than half of her short life had been spent in Rogers, however, and she was just approaching the most attractive time of young girlhood. She was a student at Rogers Academy where she was very popular, both with her classmates and with her teachers, and also in her class at Sunday school. A strong, active, young girl, her long illness was a great burden but she bore it with great patience and not a single complaint ever crossed her lips during the many weeks illness. Her death is a great blow to the sorrowing parents and the yonder brothers and they have the deepest sympathy of the entire community.
