COWAN, John - Uncle John Cowan died last Wednesday, January 6 at the home of his son, W.H. Cowan of Lowell, at the age of 87 years and was one of the county's oldest citizens. He was a native of Tennessee which gave to Benton county a larger per cent of its pioneer citizens than any other state. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Peter Carnahan, another of our old pioneers. The deceased is survived by his wife, who is 86 years old and they had been married 64 years. He leaves three children, Tom and W.H. Cowan and Mrs. Anna Reid. The death of Mr. Cowan closes a long and useful Christian life and the community has lost one of its best citizens.
