COWAN, Margaret Ann - Margaret Ann Cowan, aged 71 years, died at the residence of P.E. Getz in this city last Friday morning. She was an aunt of Mrs. P.E. Getz and W.H. Cowan of Vinita and had resided in this city many years. The deceased had never married and had devoted her life to the care and training of her orphan nieces and nephews, to whom she was almost as dear as a mother. Funeral services were held at the residence Saturday morning after which the remains were taken to the cemetery two miles west of Lowell and there gently laid away. The relatives do not mourn alone for numerous friends keenly feel the loss of this truly good woman.

COWAN, Margarett Ann - Died at her residence in Bentonville, Ark. Jan. 27th, 1899, Margarett Ann Cowan, in the 71st year of her age. The deceased, familiarly known as "Aunt Peg," was born in the State of Tennessee April 14th, 1828 and while yet a child her parents moved with her to Benton county, Ark. and located upon the old home near Lowell. Very early in life she professed faith in Christ as her personal Savior and united with the C.P. Church in which connection she lived an acceptable and consistent member for more than fifty years. She was never married but was left as a mother to her nephews and nieces, several of whom she had almost the sole care of from infancy up to manhood and womanhood. May the loved ones for whom she lived and labored cherish her memory and emulate her example. P. Carnahan.
