PACE, Florence L. HAYDEN - The relatives of Mrs. Florence L. Pace, wife of John Pace of near Maysville, were sadly surprised to learn of the sudden and unexpected death of Mrs. Pace last Thursday at her home north of Maysville. Mrs. Pace seemed to be enjoying reasonably good health, but Thursday morning complained of being ill and went and laid down. Shortly after Mr. Pace called to her and receiving no response went to her bedside to find that her spirit had flown, having passed away as one going to sleep. A year ago June 8th, Mr. and Mrs. Pace celebrated their golden wedding with all the children at home except Mrs. Brooks who lives in Canada. And now, just 13 months later were called home to pay the last respects to the departed mother. This was a sad home coming. A number of the children and other relatives of the deceased arrived to attend the funeral. Mr. and Mrs. Pace were both of the foremost families of west Benton county. The News-Herald bespeaks the sentiment of a host of friends in extending sincere sympathy to the venerable husband, bereaved children and other relatives.

Mrs. Florence Hayden Pace, wife of J.H. Pace, departed this life July 8th, 1909. The deceased was a daughter of Dr. Clement and Mrs. Lucy Hayden, of sainted memory, and was born near the home where she died on Dec. 19th, 1841. On June 8th, 1858 she was married to John H. Pace and to them were born seven children, six of whom are still living - noble christian men and women in whom the mother's heart did rejoice and the father take comfort. In her early maidenhood she professed faith in Christ and soon after united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church in which she was ever a true, consistent and devoted member, always ready and glad to work for the Master and the church she loved. Her greatest pleasure was in the Sabbath school of which she was a faithful attendant all her life. Endowed by nature with a most lovely character and disposition, to which was added all the graces of a true christian, "Aunt Florence," as she was familiarly known throughout the neighborhood, easily won and held the love of all with whom she came in contact, especially with the young people was she very popular. Time had left his marks on her physical being, but in mind and heart she was still young, enjoying the gayeties of the youth, sympathizing with the deeper problems of the middle aged, yet fully conscious of and content with the fact that she was nearing the "great beyond." God saw her life, her work, and because they were so good He saw no need of the chastening, refining of the pain of a long illness, through which so many are called to pass. So to her dear friends, her sisters and brothers, her sons and daughters, her grandsons and granddaughters, and especially her loved companion who has walked by her side for fifty-one long years, would I offer deepest sympathy and beg you to look beyond this parting and by faith see that house of many mansions where we soon shall meet our loved one and never more be parted. One Who Loved Her.
