Marion Washington "Bud" Barnes, 101, a resident of Benton County for 91 years, died Thursday afternoon at a Rogers nursing home.
He was born Oct. 28, 1971, in Newton County, Mo., near Granby. In 1891, the family came to Bentonville and obtained land near Cave Springs. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rogers. Known to many as "Uncle Bud," he was a member of a musical family.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ida Smith of Rogers and Mrs. Pearl Higginbotham of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Edgar A. Barnes of Rogers; a sister, Mrs. Addie Rife of Bentonville; 15 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2:30 Saturday afternoon at Burns Funeral Chapel in Rogers with the Rev. Roy Galyean officiating. Burial will be in Harts Cemetery under the direction of Burns in Rogers.
