Mr. Ellis, formerly a citizen of this county, died at Noel, Missouri on Oct. 5th. The remains were sent to Pea Ridge for burial. The Rev. Wheeler of Pea Riddge conducted the funeral services.

ELLIS, David H. - David H. Ellis was born in North Carolina Feb. 22, 1836 and died at his home at Noel, Mo. Oct. 5, 1914, which made him 78 years, 7 months and 13 days old. He left North Carolina and moved to Alabama and from there to Arkansas before the Civil War and had made his home in Arkansas and Missouri since that time. He was married to Sarah E. McElhaney in 1860. To this union was born 8 children, 4 boys and 4 girls, five of whom survive him, the wife and mother having passed on before, Jan. 10, 1892. The wife of his second marriage, his children, grand children and many friends are left to mourn his departure. He professed faith in Christ during the Civil War and joined the M.E. church and lived a devoted Christian life until his death. The funeral was held at the M.E. church, South at Pea Ridge Oct. 6th at 2:30 o'clock. A large audience came to pay the last tribute of respect to Bro. Ellis and to speak a word of comfort to the sorrowing ones. D.H. Ellis lived in Pea Ridge for a number of years and his friends include all who knew him.
