Grover the son of John "Homer" Davis and Nellie "Nell" L (Crabtree) Davis. Imogene the daughter of James "Jim" Washington Dailey and Ida Lee (Jean) Dailey.
SMITHVILLE - Grover Davis, 89, of Smithville passed away June 2, 2009, at NEA BaptistMemorial Hospital in Jonesboro.
Born Nov. 21, 1919, at Denton, Mr. Davis was the son of Homer and Nellie Crabtree Davis. He was united in marriage to Imogene Davis on Nov. 18, 1939, and they were married for 69 years.
Mr. Davis attended Sloan Hendrix Academy. He was a cattle rancher, school teacher, an active member of Smithville United Methodist Church where he was currently chairman of the finance committee, a member of J.F. Hammet Order of the Eastern Star 555 and Masonic Lodge 29 in Smithville where he was a past master. He was also a member of the Arkansas Cattleman's Association, Farm Bureau, Lawrence County Historical Society; Smithville Saddle Club and the Feeder Calf Association.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Davis; one sister, Ada Sue Forrester; and a son-in-law, Walt Neeley.
Survivors include his wife, Imogene Davis; two daughters and a son-in-law, Betty Neeley and Ann and Larry Burrow; three grandsons and wives, Cass and Jill Burrow, Clent and Angela Burrow, and Kyle and Debra Neeley; five great-grandchildren, Skyler and Luke Burrow, David and Breanna Burrow, and Jayda Neeley; five step-great-grandchildren, Stormy and Stone Weiand, Liz O'Tinger, Rob Guthrie and Alexis Janaski; and many other friends and relatives.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Smithville United Methodist Church with the Revs. Bob McMillon and Harold Russell officiating. Interment will be immediately following in Old Bethel Cemetery at Denton. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time at the church.
Active pallbearers will be Cass and Clent Burrow, Kyle Neeley, David and Nathan Davis, and Max Mize.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Smithville United Methodist Church, members of the OES and the Masonic Lodge.
Arrangements are under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Home at Walnut Ridge.

Smithville - Imogene Davis, 98 passed away Friday, June 16, 2017 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge. She was born on January 20, 1919 in Smithville, Arkansas to Jim and Ida Jean Dailey. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Smithville. Mrs. Davis was a school teacher, homemaker, Avon representative, and seamstress.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Jim and Ida Jean Dailey; husband, Grover Davis; sister, Louise Guthrie; brothers, Floyd Dailey, J.W. Dailey, and Jearl Dailey, and son-in-law, Walt Neeley.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Neeley and Ann Burrow (Larry) of Smithville; grandsons, Cass Burrow of Corning, Clent Burrow (Angela) of Smithville, Kyle Neeley (Debra) of Memphis, Tennessee; great grandchildren, Skyler, Luke, David, and Breanna Burrow, and Jayda Neeley; step great grandchildren, Alexis Janaski, Liz O’Tinger, Rob Guthrie, and Stormy and Stone Weiand.
Visitation will be Monday, June 19, 2017 at Smithville Methodist Church in Smithville from 10 am-11 am. Funeral will follow at 11 am with Reverend Joe Kaiser officiating. Burial will be at Old Bethel Cemetery near Denton, Arkansas under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Kyle Neeley, Clent Burrow, David Burrow, Cass Burrow, Skyler Burrow, and Luke Burrow.
