Barbara Ann Caras Thurman, 65, of Monticello, passed away Thursday, May 5th, 2011 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. She was born November 23, 1945 in Pine Bluff, AR, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Betty Prince Caras.
She was a hair dresser and owned Merle Norman Cosmetics and Beauty Salon in Pine Bluff for several years. She worked at the Pine Bluff Convention Center for 16 years as event coordinator and for the Pine Bluff Police Department as city's Neighborhood Watch Coordinator. She then retired and moved south of Monticello where she enjoyed the slower pace of country living. She enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with her Cocker Spaniel, 'Lacey'. She attended Lacey United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Larry Thurman of Monticello; one son, Rick Thurman and wife, Pam of Quincy, IL and their daughter, Terra Scranton; one daughter, Penny Whitener and husband, Matt of White Hall, AR and granddaughter, Hannah Whitener.
