Thomas C. Baker Jr., 67, of Springdale, died Wednesday, June 2, 1993, at his home. Born March 24, 1926, at Springdale, the son of Thomas C. Sr. and Mattie Lois Stamps Baker, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the Philippines, Tokyo and at General Douglas McArthur's headquarters. He had lived in Joplin, Mo., for 18 years and was a graduate of the University of Arkansas and a retired employee of the Social Security Administration. In 1979, he received a citation for outstanding service. He was a former member of the Springdale Jaycees.

Survivors are a brother, Clacy Baker of Springdale; three sisters, Billie Carnes of Fayetteville, Ruby High of Springdale and Ruth Fletcher of Bentonville; four nieces and nine nephews.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Friendship Cemetery in Springdale with the Rev. Johnny Sisemore officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, c/o Nancy Bailey, Worthen Bank, P.O. Box 1287, Fayetteville, Ark. 72702. Arrangements are under the direction of Sisco Chapel in Springdale.
