Fayetteville – James Earl “Jim” Baker, 89, of Fayetteville died June 4, 2001, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born Sept 30, 1911, in Fayetteville to Alvy Winfield And Julia Mae Balleou Baker. He retired in 1985 after 50 years in the produce and nursery business. He was a life long member of Hyland Park Assembly of God Church, where he served as a deacon and a member of the board of trustees for several years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vidis Vera Baker.

Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, James Baker & Karen of Springdale and Bill Baker and Beverly of Waynesboro, Miss.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Earlene Glisson and Bob of Wichita, Kan,; Betty Cumbie and Roger of Prairie Grove, Vera Brown and Bobby of Scott and Frances Underhill and George of Springdale; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Shady Grove Cemetery in Springdale with the Rev. Dean Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Today with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. At Beard's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hyland Park Assembly of God Church, 900 N. Crossover Road, Fayetteville, 72701.
