Rick A. Long, 60, a lifelong resident of Siloam Springs, AR, made his entrance into Heaven on August 23, 2014.
Rick was born July 8, 1954 in Siloam Springs, a son of Allen Ray Long and Rosella Knickerbocker Long. He married Sandra J. Hewes on May 22, 1976 at the Natural Falls State Park in West Siloam Springs, OK. He was the Sound and Media Director for John Brown University from 1998-2001, had been a volunteer Fireman, and operated the Passing Note Recording Studio. For many years Rick ran the sound engineering for the First Assembly of God Church, he enjoyed working with the youth and was currently attending Christian Community Fellowship. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf and guitar, had extraordinary handyman skills and a passion for a good cigar.
He is survived by his wife Sandra Long of the home; his mother and step father, Rosella and Orville Evans of Siloam Springs; one son, Nicholas Long of Boston, MA; two daughters, Sonja and husband Justin Smith of Siloam Springs, and Jennifer and husband Bryan Brown of Fayetteville; four brothers, Mike Long and Debbie Brackney of Siloam Springs, Rodney Long of Siloam Springs, Mark and wife Donni of Miami, OK, and David and wife Cheryl Long of Grove, OK; three grandchildren, Jackson Smith, Coltrane Smith and Covy Brown.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Community Christian Fellowship on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 10:00 am. Rick Dimmitt will officiate the service, with burial being held at the Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.
