William M. Stewart, 58, 104 Midland, Springdale, died Dec. 9 at Bentonville. Born Nov. 2, 1918, in Mecklenberg County, N.C., he was the son of William Henry and Sally Hunnicutt Stewart, a member of First Baptist Church and plant operator for Arkola Sand and Gravel Co. A veteran of World War II, he received the Bronze Star medal. He moved to Springdale from Fort Smith in 1957.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hope Harshaw Stewart of the home; one son, David William Stewart, Cave Springs; one daughter, Mrs. Wayen (Sallye) Turley, Springdale; his stepmother, Mrs. Fannie Stewart, Statesville, N.C.; two brothers, Herman Stewart, Concord, N.C., and Jack Grant, Statesville, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Roy (Latha) Cruse, Kannapolis, N.C., and Mrs. John (Autiebell) Hern, Salisbury, N.C.; and one grandchild.

Arrangements are incomplete and will he announced by Sisco Chapel.

Funeral services for William M. Stewart, 58, 104 Midland, Springdale, were held Saturday at 3 p.m. in Sisco Chapel with the Rev. Cliff Palmer officiating. Robert and Anita Wagoner provided the music. Burial was in Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Sisco.

Pallbearers were Bob Parsons, Gordon Long, Carroll Bradley, Felix Casto, Winfield Guist and Pete (Cecil) Glenn.

SPRINGDALE — Hope Stewart, 91 of Springdale passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 at Walker Hospice in Fayetteville. She was born Sept. 4, 1925 in Webers Falls, Oklahoma to Floyd and Naeta Butts Harshaw.

Hope was a bookkeeper. She worked at Famous Hardware, Springdale Water Department and Northwest Vocational Technical School. She was a member of Cross Church Springdale formerly First Baptist Church where she taught the four year old Sunday school Class. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Stewart; her son, David Stewart; two sisters, Jewel E. Marshall and Velma Lee Halley; two brothers, Floyd A. Harshaw Jr. and John William Harshaw and her dear dog Elly.

Survivors include one daughter, Sallye Turley and husband Wayne of Springdale; one sister in law, Maxine Harshaw of Muskogee, Oklahoma and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Bluff Cemetery with Charlie Foster officiating. No visitation is planned.
