CENTERTON — Gardner Charles Brown III, 73, of Centerton, Ark., died Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville. Ark. He was born Sept. 9, 1938, in Long Beach, Calif., to Gardner Charles Brown II and Marie Swanson-Brown.

He proudly served in the United States Army. He was head of ammunitions in peacetime in Germany and served with Elvis Presley. What a pair.

Gardner was a loving husband and father, always putting family first, especially his beloved wife Carolyn.

He was a fun dad and always a hard worker for his family, and good example of a faithful husband.

He was preceded in death by Gardner Charles Brown the second and Marie Brown.

Gardner is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carolyn Lee Watson; one son, Mark Brown of Costa Rica; three daughters, Julie Holmes and husband Ron of Rogers, Ark., Cynthia Kiktavi and husband Mike of West Covina, Calif., Launa Armstrong, and husband Gregg of Brea, Calif.; one sister Pat Englage and husband George of Whittier, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Garrett Armstrong, Lauren Kiktavi, Justin Holmes and wife Katie, Caroline Armstrong, Evan Kiktavi and wife Julie, Brent Homes and wide Bailey, Gavin Armstrong, Michaelyn Brown and Mackanzie Brown; and one great-grandchild, Natalie Holmes.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Avoca.

Cremation arrangements are by Stockdale Funeral Services in Rogers. Online condolences may be made at stockdalefuneral.com.
