Jacob McNeal Garrett, aged 21, passed from this life on May 4, 2017. He was born April 16, 1996 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Steven F. and Anjanette (Angel) M. (Henry) Garrett.
Jacob had a gift for music, and was an especially talented songwriter. He had been a member of several bands in the Joplin and Kansas City areas and a frequent collaborator with other musicians. He was his most joyous when he played.
Jacob loved his friends and the scene, always putting the needs of others before his own. He loved to laugh and make others happy. His smile was contagious.
He graduated from Smithville High School in 2014, but had also attended Webb City, Mo. High school where he lettered in Swimming. At Smithville High School he was a member of the Lakeside Singers, but added his own brand of flash with his guitar.
At the time of his death, he was a member of the bands Clearviews and Aprilmist and his own solo project Spring Eyes.
Jacob is survived by his father and mother and two brothers, Joshua and Jackson, his grandparents John and Linda Henry of Siloam Springs and Nancy Garrett-Farrier of Stilwell, a number of aunts, uncles and cousins, his band mates and many musicians and friends across the Midwest.
There will be a graveside service 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jacob McNeal Garrett Memorial Fund, Platte Valley Bank, P.O. Box 251, Smithville, MO 64089.
