There are six graves marked CASTSTEEL. All are children’s graves. Five of the graves have been identified as Infant or Young Children of William & Mary Barton Caststeel; Johnny & Stella Barton Caststeel; and Elbert Luke & Edith Simpson Caststeel. One of the graves marked CASTSTEEL is actually an infant child of Charles & Inez Caststeel Mahan Crandall, and a grandchild of William & Mary Barton Caststeel.
There are not any dates on the eight markers, but information indicates that all the burials date from the mid-1940’s or earlier.
From obituaries, or other sources, three of the burials are identified as follows even though it is unclear as to which of the six graves the burial was in:
Infant Crandall Son
Son of Charles & Inez Caststeel Mahan Crandall
Born & Died May 1946
Everett Lawrence Caststeel
Son of Elbert Luke & Edith Simpson Caststeel
Born & Died January 1941
Laura Lucille Caststeel
Daughter of Elbert Luke & Edith Simpson Caststeel
Died March or Early April 1939—Age was not given, but from information, it would appear that she was older than a newborn.
(Most of the CASTSTEEL Children graves are bunched together at what used to be the base of a large tree. As such, the graves are not necessarily in a row.)
