Tabitha CUNNINGHAM

Heiskill Cemetery
Baxter County,
Arkansas

Fourth Wife of Jonathan Calvin Cunningham
Daughter of Dr. William Riley Caststeel & Martha A. Akins Caststeel

June 11, 1844--August 2, 1927

(The birth date of June 11, 1844 is recorded on the gravestone as well as in her obituary; however, but the 1850 & 1860 Federal Census gives an age that would suggest the correct year as 1848.)

The Baxter Bulletin
August 12, 1927
Tabitha Caststeel was born June 11, 1844, in Jyles Co., TN; was married to John Cunningham 47 years ago. To this union were born three children of whom two are living - - Mrs. Joe Haugh and Jim Cunningham, both of Gassville; was a stepmother of two children, She was converted and joined the Missionary Baptist Church at Burford in early life and remained a member of that church until her death, which came August 2, 1927; age 83 years, 1 month, and 22 days. She lived with her daughter for many years. She was a devoted Christian; bore her afflictions with patience; told us she was going to her long home in the morning and she left the evidence that the good Lord was to her a companion in death.
Farewell, dear mother, we miss you here, but we will meet you over there.
She was laid away to rest in the Haskell (sic) Cemetery to await the resurrection. Many sorrying relatives and friends attended the services, which were conducted by the writer, W.H. McCuistion.
