Eva Lynne Cunningham, 16-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cunningham of 4602 East Broadway, apparently drowned Thursday afternoon when she fell into a bathtub at her home.
Cunningham said that his wife had given Eva Lynne and another child, 2 months old, a bath in the tub. She took them out and placed the Cunningham's two other children, aged 2 1/2 and 4, in the tub. While she was dressing the youngest child in another room, he said, Eva Lynne went back into the bathroom and fell into the tub, apparently hitting her head.
Cunningham said that Mrs. Cunningham found Eva Lynne face down in the water and slapped her on the back and gave her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. The child didn't revive and Mrs. Cunningham carried her to a service station in front of the house, where Cunningham works and he took the child across the street to Fire Station No. 4 in Rose City. There, Tom Johnson, a driver, attempted to revive the child with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation for about 10 minutes until the Department's rescue unit arrieved and began administering oxygen. This was continued en route to Memorial Hospital but the child was dead on arrival.
The child also is survived by two brothers, Mark and Charles Cunningham; a sister, Miss Laura Cunningham, all of North Little Rock and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William T. Craton of Jacksonville and Mrs. George Swartz of Kansas City.
Funeral arrangements will be annouced by North Little Rock Funeral Home.
