Reita Nelwyn Nash Cook, 79, of Smackover, departed this life for her heavenly home on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. Born September 29, 1931 in El Dorado, AR, she was the daughter of the late William Ervin Nash and Jessie Ray (Hodges) Nash. Reita was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church in Smackover. She was also a senior accounting clerk for Murphy Oil and administrative assistant for Rowlan Drilling in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Her parents; husband, S.T. “Buddy” Cook, son, Leslie John Cook and brother, Harold Nash await her arrival in Heaven.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Thomas N. Cook and daughter-in-law, Nancy Ann Cook of Houston, Texas and Jerry Cook Langley of Smackover; two grandsons, Matthew N. Cook of College Station, Texas and Jeffrey H. Cook of Houston; two granddaughters, Jennifer M. Cook of Houston and Leslie A. Cook of Ruston, Louisiana; numerous beloved nephews, nieces , cousins and three sisters-in-law, Bobbie Nash of Little Rock, Delores Cook Welch of Glen Coe, MO and Bernice R. Cook of Smackover.
A memorial celebration of her life will be held 2:30 PM Thursday, March 17, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Smackover under the direction of Young’s with Rev. Vaughn Blue and Rev. David Preston officiating. A concluding service will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held Thursday, 1 PM until service time at First Baptist Church in Smackover.
Honorary pallbearers include, Don Lambert, Tommy Slaughter, Bob McDaniel, John Barker, Michael Tucker and John Thompson.
The Cook family would like to express sincere appreciation to Dr. Donna Zahniser. Because of her wisdom and encouragement, the family was blessed with 29 “extra” years. Also, a special thank you to the staff of the John R. Williamson Hospice House for the compassionate care Reita received.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the John R. Williamson Hospice House, 2301 Champagnolle Road, El Dorado, AR 71730.
