Mrs. Mary D. Pickett, age 79, of Chidester, widow of P.J. Pickett died at the home of her son, Elvin Pickett at Chidester at 8:30 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Pickett was a resident of Chidester for the past 68 years. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving her death are three daughters, Mrs. Cora Neal, Mrs. Willie Stinnett, and Mrs. Henderson Stinnett, all of Chidester; four sons, William, Claud, and Elvin Pickett, all of Chidester; and Thurston Piuckett of Camden; 23 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Missouri Methodist Church near Chidester at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, conducted by Rev. Rayford Diffie of Chidester, and Rev. A. W. Tanner of Camden. Burial was in the Missouri cemetery. Active bearers were Winfred Pickett, Clyde Stinnett, Cleon Neal, Johnson Stinnett, Edgar Pickett, Bobby Heflin and John Chester Clingan. Honorary bearers: A. S. Vandiver, Ed Stinnett, P. A. Martin, Merle Merritt, Charlie Hallum, Robert Stinnett, Warner Tuberville, Jimmy Tuberville, W. J. Hindman, Joe Stinnett, Watson Bell, Alfred Stinnett, M. Singleton.
