*Obituary
Fayetteville Democrat
Saturday, March 24, 1877
On the 23d of February the hearts of the fond father and mother, Henry H. and Littitia E. Fields, were made sad over the death of their infant son, Henry Clay, aged fourteen months. Only a few short hours before the "spirit returned to the God that gave it" was it manifested that a fatal disease, pneumonia, was preying upon its vital functions. All efforts to relieve the sufferer were futile. And now let the bereaved parents bow in meek submission to the will of Him who ruleth in everything. Although Clay was noble in appearance and so possessing in disposition, was the precious gem of the family, doted upon so much, account it not hard to give him up; but rather be thankful he has gone to join his little sister in a bright home above, away from all troubles and care. S.G.T. Billingsley, Ark., March 1, 1877.
