George Layne, 80, of Bentonville, died Monday, Nov. 23, at his home.

He was born June 8, 1912, at Weddington to Daniel Joseph Layne and Roxie Lena Morris Layne. A retired farmer and carpenter, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Zion's Rest Primitive Baptist Church, the Northwest Arkansas Fox and Wolf Hunter's Association and the American Legion, Cave Springs.

Survivors are his wife, Lucille Mamie Brink Layne; a son, Alvin Layne of Pineville, Mo.; three brothers, Daniel Agee Layne of Modesto, Calif., Jesse James Layne of Springdale and Arnold D. Layne of Bentonville; two sisters, Jewel Mae Porter of Modesto, Calif., and Opal Beatrice Clark of Siloam Springs; and two grandsons.

Funeral is set for 2 p.m. Friday at Callison-Lough Funeral Chapel, Bentonville, with James Isaacs officiating. Visitation is 1-5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial is to be in White Oak Cemetery near Fayetteville.

PINEVILLE, Mo. — Lucille Brink Layne of Pineville died July 16, 2008. She was born July 29, 1918, in Coal Hill to Joseph and Amy Brink. She married George William Layne on June 4, 1934, and settled in Savoy. She later moved to Lick Branch near Highfill and then in 1961 to Centerton. She worked in local canning factories and later at BEMCO for 14 years in Centerton. She was a member of Zion's Rest Church, Centerton, where she was baptized. She moved to be closer to her son in Pineville in 1993.

She was preceded in death her husband, George.

Survivors include one brother, Frank Brink of Phoenix; one son, Alvin and wife Rosiland Layne of Pineville; two grandsons; a great-granddaughter, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. July 28 at Radiant Life Church in Bentonville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Radiant Life Church building fund, PO Box 337, Bentonville, 72712.
