Jess Layne, 79, of Springdale, died Tuesday, July 12, 1994, at his home. Born July 15, 1914, at Savoy, the son of Daniel Joseph and Lena Roxie Morris Layne, he was a retired car salesman and a farmer. He held the Legion of Leadership designation with the Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors for 34 years. He was a Baptist church deacon and a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Bentonville.

Survivors are his wife, Pearl Layne of the home; a daughter, Wanda Henbest of Springdale; two brothers, D.A. Layne of Modesto, Calif., and Arnold Layne of Bentonville; two sisters, Opal B. Clark of Siloam Springs and Jewel Porter of Modesto, Calif.; two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Service is 10 a.m. Friday at Sisco Funeral Chapel, with Elder Don Farris and Elder D.A. Layne officiating. Burial is in Friendship Cemetery.

SPRINGDALE — Stella Pearl Layne, 93, of Springdale, died Feb. 21, 2014, at Walnut Grove Nursing & Rehab. She was born Nov. 15, 1920, in Springtown, Ark., to Enoch and Dora Shipley. On April 30, 1938, she married Jess Layne, who preceded her in death as well as her parents, two brothers and five sisters.

She is survived by one daughter, Wanda Henbest and husband, Carroll, of Springdale, two granddaughters, Ellen Otis and Ann Gallaher husband, Marty, of Springdale; one step-grandson, Barry Henbest and wife, Kristen of Rogers; one step-granddaughter, Cheryl Raney and husband, Bruce of Rogers; two great-grandsons, Bannon Gallaher and Austin Otis of Springdale; two great-granddaughters, Brittany Otis and Jessie Gallaher of Springdale; two step-greatgrandsons, Colton Pace and Jake Henbest of Rogers; and two step-great-granddaughters, Bailey Pace and Emily Henbest of Rogers.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Friendship Cemetery with Arnold Layne officiating.

Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.

Memorials may he made to Alzheimer's Association, Western Arkansas Chapter 320, N. Greenwood Ave., Ft. Smith, AR 72901.
